Midi Sampling
Are you familiar with Midi sampling? Have you used it as one of your songwriting tools?
If you haven’t, I think this will be pretty inspiring for you.
Midi Sampling is a technique of using freely available midi files of a wide assortment of songs to get massive inspiration. The ability to manipulate midi files is pretty endless. It’s like starting with a synth preset and tweaking it until it’s your own.
This is especially awesome with Drum Programming, especially if you don’t consider yourself very skilled in this area. If you can put together a drum kit that conforms to general midi, you can make endless beats, chord structures, arpeggiations & melodies by borrowing the programming from another song. This is especially powerful for drum fills, hi hate patterns & percussion parts as well.
