How to record multiple tracks simultaneuosly in Ableton
Are you trying to figure out how to record multiple tracks all at once? Perhaps you have a live band or you’ve got alot of instruments playing through midi.
Recording audio one track at a time might not be as practcal as recording
it all in one pass.
You’re only limit in recording multiple tracks is the limit of audio imput’s your
soundcard has. If you have 8 inputs you can either record 8 mono tracks at once, 4 stereo tracks or a combination of both.
Here is how:
create audio tracks to record onto
Find your audio tracks ‘in/out’ section for each track you want to record onto
Where it says ‘audio in’ make sure ‘ext in’ is selected
Under ext in is a 2nd selection window where you can choose which
audio input (mono are single #’s and stereo are pairs ie: 1-2, 3-4)
arm multiple tracks in the arrange window by holding down the apple(mac)/control(pc) key
click on the main record button at the top middle of your screen
It is a good idea to arm the metronome so the song you are recording matched the master tempo
click the play button and you should get a 1 or 2 bar count in… then you’re off and recording!
